Our Mission
Our mission is to provide service to the Canton Potsdam Hospital and its patients. The Guild assists in promoting high quality health care to area residents through financial support and community outreach in accordance with the goals of Canton Potsdam Hospital. The Guild operates a gift shop, conducts business activities, and sponsors fundraising events. All resulting funds are to be used to benefit the hospital.
Our History
The Canton Potsdam Hospital Guild was established in November 2017 when the Potsdam Hospital Guild, Potsdam, NY and the E.J. Noble Guild, Canton, NY merged as one to create a stronger alliance to support the Canton Potsdam Hospital. The first local guild was established almost 100 years ago. Since then, it has fostered a valuable connection between Canton-Potsdam Hospital and the communities which the hospital serves.

The Guild consists of community members, who selflessly volunteer their time and efforts to assist making the hospital the best it can be. Soon, Canton-Potsdam Hospital will be home to a newly renovated Gift Shop operated by the Guild. In conjunction with the Regional Care Pavilion Project, it’s expected to open in the summer of 2024. The Gift Shop has been in business since 1951 and is managed and operated by volunteers. Other fundraising events sponsored by the Guild are a soup luncheon, trivia nights, garden tours, holiday decorating sales and the annual golf tournament held in July. Additionally, the Guild hosts community events such as the Lifestyle and Wellness Day and a Mother’s Day Gift Basket.
The Guild provides a generous contribution to the maintenance of the Butterfly Garden at the E.J. Noble Building in Canton, which preserves the beautiful landscape and relaxing atmosphere to be enjoyed by many. The Guild also established the SUNY Canton Nursing Scholarships, Prescription Drug Assistance Program, and an Employee Uniform Plan.
The fundraising efforts culminate each year in a sizable contribution to the hospital. These in turn are used to purchase medical equipment, assist in building renovations, and expand services in the Cancer Center, the Birthplace Labor and Delivery Department, Cardiology, and Mammography. These service projects serve a vital role in connecting the hospital with the local community.
